I’ve been meaning to post this for a while now however time is key with having two kids at home running a muck during school holidays. It’s been a hectic holiday break with planning activities to keep the kids entertained during the holidays, celebrating birthdays and attending get togethers. Sometimes it’s hard to find time for yourself. The heat alone this Summer has made it hard to get out and do the necessary things that should be done on a daily basis. I am now well into my third trimester now with less than six weeks left before I am due to pop.
One thing we often don’t realise when we are pregnant is we tend to neglect looking after ourselves. We focus so much on getting things ready for bubs, for birth and what is to come and we somehow forget that we also need to pamper ourselves from time to time. Pregnancy massage helps to reduce stress, get rid of physical and emotional tension and help to get the blood circulating throughout the body which will help with your own wellbeing as well as baby’s.
Last month before Christmas, I was lucky enough to be invited to experience two seriously pampering treatments. As I walked towards the welcoming doors of this beautiful revamped Federation home, I could not help but admire the exterior and interior of the building. An interior designer’s daughter at heart, the decor was arranged so skillfully giving a sense of homeliness with little touches of Christmas decorations as well as a Christmas tree. It felt welcoming, instantly you are greeted with a warm feeling and a friendly smile upon arrival. I completed a detailed questionnaire specifically formulated ensure the treatment is catered to suit each client individually. Specific concerns and problem areas such as swelling of the feet can be advised so they can concentrate on these areas of concern.
Instantly when I was taken to the spacious, lightly aromatic treatment room with dim lighting and candles flickering, I was overwhelmed with calm and a sense of relaxation. The comfortable pregnancy massage table was one I had not experienced before. I didn’t think that laying on your tummy could be so comfortable during pregnancy, however the beds make it so easy to relax and unwind with pillows specially made for pregnancy bumps. I was treated with the Heavenly Full Body Scrub followed by a 60 minute Aroma Full Body Massage leaving me invigorated and thoroughly relaxed.
The body scrub slowly buffed away all the dead skin cells and helped to unclog the pores to restore freshness into the skin as well as brighten the healthy pregnancy glow. After this initial treatment, I got up and wrapped myself with the signature Yummy Mummy robe and was lead to the shower where I washed off all the dead skin cells and the granules left from the scrub. I came back feeling refreshed and ready for the next treatment, which I am sure I fell asleep throughout it several times!! Haha. I requested special attention to my heels as they have been aching due to the dramatic change in weight whilst pregnant and was happy to have the masseuse accommodate a firm massage pressure. It truly is a deeply relaxing massage using pregnancy safe essential oils such as rose geranium, vanilla and white lotus to soothe and eliminate stresses and reduce swelling.
After the treatments, I was able to unwind with a warm cuppa tea accomodated with some fresh fruit and snacks. My experience at Yummy Mummy Pregnancy Day Spa was thoroughly enjoyable. The Heavenly Full Body Scrub is $90 and the 60 minute Aroma Full Body Massage is $129, totalling $219. I would highly recommend these treatments together and if possible, go for the 90 minute Aroma Full Body Massage instead for $169. You will thank me later.
